Cricket results -Sunday 4th July & 12 July

4th July
On Sunday 4th July we had a Shield game against Stoke Fleming. This should have been a home game but as the pitch was not ready we played at Stoke Fleming. Stoke batted first and made steady runs throughout the innings. Steve Edmonds batted the full 40 overs and was 109 not out. At the end of the innings they were 201 for 6. 

In the first 20 overs of their innings, Slapton were well behind the run rate - 56 for 3. By the end of the innings they were 151 for 8. C. Bowles -44. R. Mitchelmore - 22 not out. M. Sullock 26 (off 16 balls) not out. This result meant Stoke kept the shield.

12th July
On 12th July we were able to play our first home game after alot of work on the pitch. The match was against Aveton Gifford.
Slapton batted first and got off to a slow but steady start with some excellent bowling from Aveton Gifford. The run rate improved and at the end of the innings they were 204 for 6. S. Vorsper - 39. C. Bowles 70. A. Pratt 55 not out. N Powell being the best bowler 3 for 30.

After tea Aveton Gifford went out to bat, but Slapton bowlers were on form and they never really got going. They were all out for 72 in the 31st over. C. Clarke was best batsman with 19. Best bowlers were C. Bowles - 5-20. T.Bissett - 3-5.

Cricket results -Sunday 14th June


On Sunday 14th June Slapton Cricket Club travelled to Marldon for their match. In a different format of the game the first team in would bat from 2 until 4.30pm, then we would stop for tea. After tea, the second team would bat from 4.50pm to 6pm and then have a further 20 overs (if needed). There would then be no limit on the number of overs each bowler could bowl.

Marldon batted first and after a slow start made 146 for 8 of 45 overs. The best of the batsmen was R. Paddon scoring 39. Andy Davis bowled 15 overs and was 2 for 48. Mark Sullock bowled 12 overs - 3 for 27.

In reply Slapton reached their winning target of 147 in the 33rd over. Once again Andy Davis got a half century being 54 not out. Dan Mercer made 30 not out.

Cricket results -Sunday 21st June

Slapton's cricket match on Sunday 21st June was away at Aveton Gifford. It was a 40 overs match. 

Slapton batted first and after a slow start batted the 40 innings and made 152 for 7. Dan Mercer - 54 and Mark Sullock - 12 not out. Andy Davis batted well and made 24. 
The best of the Aveton Gifford bowlers was R. Haidle 1 for 12 off 8 overs.

In reply Aveton Gifford wickets started falling regularly from the 5th over and they were bowled out for 77 in the 25th over. Mark Sullock 4-16. Andy Davis 3 for 16. Allan Green was the best of the Aveton Gifford batsmen making 22 runs.

Cricket results -Sunday 7th June

For their match on Sunday 7th June, Slapton cc travelled to East Prawle. The match was 35 overs with each player bowling 3 overs each. 

Slapton batted first and made the excellent total of 237 for 9. Andy Davis top scorer with 58 runs. After tea with the weather still warm and sunny Prawle went in to bat facing quite a task to win. Unfortunately for them Slapton were also on form with the ball and were all out for 82. 

Best of the bowling was John Edgecombe, 3 for 5. Graham Burton, 2 for 4. Steve Vorster, 2 for 7. 

This Sunday Slapton travel to Marldon - 2pm start.

1st match of the season - results!

Slapton played Stoke Fleming on Sunday, with Slapton batting first with 191 for 6. Stoke Fleming made 195 for 9 in reply. Stoke Fleming won by 1 wicket.

This Sunday we play Harberton. Good luck all...

The Slapton cricket teams quest for glory begins this Sunday at Stoke Fleming, with the match starting at 2.30pm. 
This season Graham Burton is our new Team Captain.
